Target

Operator of the low-price coffee franchise Mammoth Coffee (started in Hongdae, Seoul in 2012) with about 900 franchise stores using kiosk ordering and automated production; Seojin Roasters is the roaster supplying its beans (Hankyung).

Deal rationale

Orchestra PE acquired 100% of both companies through its seventh fund, OPE VII, and said it would continue domestic store openings, upgrade operations and digital customer experience, and pursue phased entry into Japan's low-price coffee market, where it sees a structural gap (Smart Today). Hankyung cited IB industry views that value positioning leaves room for overseas expansion. Sellers' reasons were not reported.
