Target
The assets for sale are Kolon Industries' display overcoat (OC) and OLED encapsulant coating business and its PCB dry film resist (DFR) business under the Specialty division, plus related equity, with combined annual revenue reported in the KRW 200bn range. The mPPO electronic materials business for AI semiconductors is excluded.
Deal rationale
Kolon Industries disclosed on 13 July 2026 that it signed a binding MOU with IMM PE, saying the carve-out follows its long-term plan to focus on core competencies and that proceeds will go to improving its financial structure and investing in new businesses. IMM PE was named preferred bidder on 30 June 2026 and is reported to be deploying remaining capital from its Rose Gold 5 blind fund to expand its manufacturing and materials/components portfolio.
