Target
Korean master franchisee of the global chicken and burger brand KFC. KG Group bought it from CVC Capital Partners in February 2017 for KRW 50bn.
Deal rationale
KG Group said it decided to sell because of differences with KFC's global headquarters over contract interpretation, judging it could not run the Korean master franchise under uniform global operating policies that ignored local conditions (Aju Economy). Edaily reported that Orchestra PE, owner of pizza chain Banolim, strengthened its F&B lineup with the deal. SBS Biz reported Orchestra PE signed a franchise agreement with Yum! Brands.
