Acuon Capital (formerly KT Capital) is a specialized credit finance company focused on corporate lending and installment finance, ranked 17th among capital companies by assets, and owns 100% of Acuon Savings Bank (formerly HK Savings Bank). The savings bank ranks around 5th in its sector with total assets of about KRW 5.1 trillion at end-June 2026; combined assets were reported at about KRW 10 trillion.
Deal rationale
Hanwha Life stated the purpose as 'diversifying its business portfolio by entering specialized credit finance,' acquiring the controlling 50.54% (KRW 440 billion) directly while Centroid PE invests in the rest, reportedly to limit Hanwha's financial burden. Per Hankyung, the seller preferred a package sale of the capital company and savings bank and chose Hanwha over Meritz Securities, which wanted only the capital company. Baring PEA bought the business from JC Flowers in 2019 for about KRW 700 billion; EQT acquired Baring PEA in 2022, placing Acuon in its BPEA Fund VII, and The Fact described the holding period as about seven years.
